Glossary

Some key terminology that we use when talking about Atmolytics Cloud

Environment

An environment is your instance of Atmolytics Cloud that is private to you and those you share it with.

Dataset

The data you upload to Atmolytics Cloud is translated into a self-contained set of data. This set of data contains the fields from your source data that you have mapped into Atmolytics Cloud.

Describing your data

You will come across the following terms when managing your data.

Subjects

Atmolytics Cloud works best when your primary subject matter is placed at the heart of the data. In Atmolytics Cloud, you’re in control of how your data is represented within the system, as such you can provide what your subject is referenced as. For example, if your study was on Big Cats, your subject might be Felines.

Identifier

A unique identifier per subject record. For example, if your subjects dataset was focussed around cars, the unique identifier could be the manufacturers model number; or, if your subjects data was focussed on tech companies it could also be company number.

This identifier is then used to link data when uploading additional datasets.

Primary name

The primary name is the field used to store the common name for your subject, for example, if your subject was about people the persons first name would be ideal. Similarly if your subject was about cars, you might want to use the model name, such as Mondeo as the primary name.

Secondary name

The secondary name is the field used to store an additional name for your subject, for example, if your subject was about people the persons last name would be ideal. Similarly if your subject was about cars, you might want to use the manufacturers name, such as Ford as the secondary name.

Dates

You will come across the following terms when specifying key dates within your datasets.

Initial date

The initial date is used to store the date in which your subject began. For example, if your study was on people, the persons date of birth would be ideal; or, if your study was on cars, the initial date might be date of production.

Concluding date

The concluding date is used to store the date in which your subject ceased to be. For example, if your study was on cars, the concluding date might be date discontinued.

Team Management

You will come across the following terms when managing your team.

Controller

The controller is the person who created the environment and manages the data uploaded into the application as well as who can access the environment as either an explorer or a viewer.

Explorer

An explorer is an account granted access to the environment by the controller who can create dashboards, cohorts and reports.

Viewer

A viewer is an account granted access to the environment by the controller who can view dashboards, cohorts and reports.
