Setting your vocabulary
Tailor Atmolytics Cloud to speak your language
We want Atmolytics Cloud to speak to you in the way that you refer to your data that's why we've built in tools to allow you to change key terminology when describing your data.
The Vocabulary area of My Data allows you to configure these key terms.
There are eight key terms to set, these are:
- Subject
- Subject icon
- Primary name
- Secondary name
- Initial date
- Concluding date
- Dataset completion date
- Classification
Subject
These are the nouns in which you can set to describe your data:
- Singular
- Plural
For example:
- If your data is from within an education setting, you might specify the singular value as pupil or student and the plural as pupils or students
- If your data is from an althletics club, you might specify the singular value as althlete and the plural as althletes
- If your data is about movies, you might specify the singular value as movie and the plural as movies
Subject icon
This icon setting is used in places throughout the application and is configurable to:
- People: for any data that is centred around people, you can use this icon
- Other: for any data that is not centred around people, you can use this icon
Primary name
The primary name field is used to describe what we should call your subjects.
For example:
- If your data is from within an education setting, the pupil’s first name would be a good candidate field for primary name
- If your data is about movies, the title of the film would be a good candidate field for the primary name
Secondary name
The secondary name field is used to describe what we should call your subjects.
For example:
- If your data is from within an education setting, the pupil’s last name or surname would be a good candidate field for secondary name
- If your data is about movies, the production company of the film would be a good candidate field for the secondary name, or alternatively left blank
Initial date
The initial date field is used to pick out the field in your subjects dataset that tells you when the subject began.
For example:
- If your data is from within an education setting, the pupil’s date of birth would be a good candidate field for initial date
- If your data is about movies, the production date of the film would be a good candidate field for the initial date
- If your data is about companies, the date founded of the company would be a good candidate field for the initial date
Concluding date
The concluding date field is used to pick out the field in your subjects dataset that tells you when the subject ended.
For example:
- If your data is from within an education setting, the pupil’s leaving date would be a good candidate field for concluding date
- If your data is about movies, the release date of the film would be a good candidate field for the concluding date
Dataset completion date
The dataset completion date field is a common field across your datasets to describe the date the data was recorded
Classification
The classification field allows you group your data by a common characteristic.
For example:
- If your data is from within an education setting, the pupil’s sex would be a good candidate field for classification
